Celebrating Two Years of Resilience
Introducing Raj — a husband, father and program leader of Sons of Congo.
At first glance, you probably wouldn't know Raj grew up in the face of great adversity. His life was and still is, impacted by years of political decline and repeated conflict that occurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Yet ever resilient, Raj represents what life can be like for every Congolese — filled with hope and new beginnings.
Raj found hope after meeting Camille and Esther Ntoto, Africa New Day founders, in 2007. He's been working alongside them for more than four years, helping Africa New Day instill hope in more Congolese people.
A five-year vision
Africa New Day is in year three of its five year vision – and it's people like Raj who have helped get us here. In only two years we've made substantial strides, including:
Women of Congo: 3,801 trained (7,596 total since 2010)
Leadership Academy: 3,796 trained (4,571 total since 2012)
Sons of Congo: 3,920 trained (40,742 total since 2011)
The impact? Immeasurable. The vision and pathway to change more lives? Only clearer. And though these numbers grow every day, a history of atrocity doesn't fade quickly or easily. There is still so much work to be done.
By the time we get to year five of our vision, our hope to have reached more than 30 million Congolese people and directly transform 45,000 lives that will write a new future for the DRC – one of hope, peace, leadership and prosperity.
How will we get there?
Empower to lead change. Our programs awaken men, women, and children to discover, develop and deploy their God-given talent and be the true drivers of change in their communities.
Transform culture at the source. Instead of waiting for relief to come, Africa New Day empowers Congolese people to proactively reverse the causes of conflict and suffering in their communities.
Multiply the impact. Africa New Day participants become leaders who influence and disciple others, creating sustainable solutions and businesses in their communities.
Why? Because all people need hope and opportunity to be the solution. The DRC’s people are resilient and with God's light, they are capable of transforming the DRC one Congolese at a time. But this work cannot continue without you.
